The beautiful manor of Sagadi is located at the boundary of Lahemaa National Park. The buildings gleaming with red tiled roofs have been set according to baroque symmetry to hem cour d’honneur, the bright green of the carefully manicured lawn squares create the soothing background for their clean geometry. In 1687 the manor went into the hands of Gideon von Fock and with small breaks belonged to the family of Fock up to the year 1919. In 1749-1753 the one-storied mansion house with the rococo facade was completed. In about 1793, in the time of Gideon Ernst von Fock, the latter was expanded towards the wings and the facade was designed as early classicistic. The outhouses framing the front square were built in the exchange of the 18th-19th centuries. In 1977 Rakvere Forest Enterprise started the renovation of 10 preserved buildings and the construction of new ones on the ruins. The manor park with pond was tidied and the dendropark with 100 species was additionally established. Today the manor complex belongs to the State Forest Management Centre and has turned into a magnificent travel destination, environmental education centre and cultural center. The main building is opened as a museum but can also be rented for celebrating the festive events, weddings, concerts and theatrical performances. Sagadi Forest museum introduces its guests to the nature of forests and forestry and forest management throughout history. In addition Sagadi has a newly renovated hotel with 28 double rooms, a bailiff’s house where a cozy hostel with 35 places has find its location, fine a la carte restaurant seating up to 80 guests and conference facilities for 100 people. Sagadi manor complex has become the popular object of tourism, the international wood sculpture symposiums and summer theatre performances adjusted to the elitarian interior carried out in summers have become well-known.
