Lihula was one of the importantest settlements in Estonia in Medieval ages. On the castlemountain behind manor's mansion are the ruins of the Medieval fortress. The castle was the residence of the bishop of Saare-Lääne between 1242-1251. The fortress was destroyed in Liivi war. For these days parts of the castle have been digged out. The classistic mansion of the manor, near to the castle, was built in Wistinghausen times, latest in 1840. It's facade was laconic, impression is created by high hipped roof and a porticus with 4 toscana pillars. Stylish ancillary buildings- garner, vodka-garner and vodka-factory with their pillars support the unity of ensemble. In our days there's the Lihula museum in the former mansion, where's an expedition, connected to it's history.
