Vanamõisa manor was separated from Karula round 1660. Since 1803 it belonged to Brevern family, who kept the manor until year 1939. With it's 300 hectars of land and vodka-factory, it was one of the biggest German's households in Republic of Estonia. The historistic main building was built between 1856-1859 in Gregor von Brevern's time and from style it is similar to Rakvere's buildingmaster's Friedrich Mod's buildings. With twofloored central part lower wings join in, building is expressed with trianglefrontone, arched windows and entrancebalcony in park facade. At the moment the manor is in private ownership.
