Kaltenbrunn, as Roosna-Alliku is known in German, means “cold well”. This is clearly because the Pärnu River has its beginnings in its springs. Swedish Queen Kristiina approved the right of Bogislaus Rosen to the Roosna-Alliku manor in 1645. In order to distinguish him from the Rosens who were well known in Old Livonia, “weiss” (white) was added to his name. The coat of arms also features a white rose, which has become the symbol of the manor. Roosna-Alliku is one of the most impressive examples of early classical manor architecture in Estonia, completed by Otto Friedrich von Stackelberg in 1786. Worthiest of attention in the interior are the two rooms with artificial marble walls. The manor building has been a school since 1924.
